HS Football: Six Local Teams Ranked in the Top 10 CIF Southern Section Divisional Polls for Week 6, October 1

Vista Murrieta Cracks the Top 10 Polls in Division 1 for the First Time this Season

The CIF Southern Section Polls for Week 6, October 1st have been released. The big change this week…Vista Murrieta broke into the Division 1 Top 10 Rankings  for the first time this season. Heritage, Paloma Valley, Chaparral, Temecula Valley and Linfield Christian wee also ranked tops in their Divisions.

Linfield Christian still reigns supreme again this week in Division 12. The Number One ranked Lions crushed Arrowhead Christian 62-0 last week. They have crushed all six opponents they have played this season.

Coach Dechon Burns’ team’s amazing defense has only given up 6 points in their first 6 games. The Lions seem to score at will and get better each week. Linfield faces Ontario Christian this week.

Vista Murrieta finally made the top ten in the Division 1 Polls. The Broncos are on a three game winning streak and are 4-2. Last week, Vista Murrieta won their Southwestern league opener against Murrieta Mesa 31-6. They play Chaparral Friday.

Heritage improved to the 8th spot in Division 2. Head Coach Kraig Broach’s Patriots are 4-2 and beat Elsinore 35-7 last week. Heritage will face off against Division 8 rival Temescal Canyon this Friday.

Paloma Valley is back in the top ten in the Division 3 Polls this week. The Wildcats are 4-2 and defeated Notre Dame 48-21 in their last game. Paloma Valley suits up against Arlington this week.

In Division 4, Chaparral fell from sixth to number 9 in the polls this week. The Pumas suffered their first loss of the season to Division 1 and Southwestern league rival Murrieta Valley. Chaparral’s 51-16 loss leaves the Pumas at 5-1 as they prepare to meet Division 1 Vista Murrieta.

Temecula Valley improved 1 spot in the Division 8 Polls from sixth to number 5 this week. The Golden Bears easily beat arch rival Great Oak 21-6.

The Golden Bears will face defending Southwestern league Champion Murrieta Valley Friday night.
