HS Football: Temecula Valley Crushes Valley View 41-6 in Season Opener

Six Players Score Touchdowns as Golden Bears Coast to Victory

Temecula Valley proved Friday night that their fifth place ranking in the CIF Southern Section Preseason Polls is quite accurate. The Golden Bears dominated Valley View all night long and ended up with a 41-6 opening night win in Moreno Valley.

Kicker Andrew Herrera got the Eagles on the scoreboard fist, nailing a 33-yard field goal on their opening possession.

Trailing 3-0, the Golden Bears took over the pace of the game. Temecula would score 35 consecutive points to finish the half and kept Valley View out of the end zone.

Head Coach Bert Esposito praised the Golden Bear’s defense Friday night. “The Game went very well. The defense dominated the whole game and we had a running clock the entire second half. It was a dominating performance for our defense”.

The first Temecula Valley touchdown came on junior Dylan Johns’ four yard scoring run. The Bears struck again two minutes into the second quarter when senior running back Brody Hughes busted loose for a 41 yard touchdown.

Temecula added to the total when senior Amir Alamin scored from two yards out.

Anson Pulsipher was next. The senior wide receiver hauled in a 30-yard touchdown from Zach Cutka. The senior quarterback scored again on a 2 yard keeper and gave the Bears a 35-3 lead at the half.

Cutka would finish the game completing 5 of 12 passing for 47 yards. The Temecula Valley quarterback also rushed for 14 yards.

For Valley View, freshman Ernie Gonzalez, completed 10 of 18 passes for 44 yards and rushed for 47 yards.

We have high expectations from our defense this year, and I think they showed a lot of good things tonight,” said coach Esposito. The Offense took a little bit to get going and then started rolling. I think we’re going to have a pretty good team this year”.
