HS Football: Vista Murrieta Coach David Olson Focused on Continuing the Broncos Winning Legacy

The New Head Coach Inherits Experienced Coaches and a Tradition of Proud, Winning Football

Vista Murrieta has a new head coach this season. David Olson has taken over as the Bronco coach from Coley Candaele who built Vista Murrieta into one of the most successful football programs in Southern California in his 13 seasons at the helm.David Olson

Under Candaele’s leadership, the Bronco football teams have won 9 League Championships and they have been to the CIF Football Championship finals the last seven years, winning the championship in 2011 and finishing as runner-up in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

13962728_1041929242593855_631724561369713231_nOlson has played a major role in the Broncos success and was the team’s Defensive Coordinator for the past 5 seasons. He kept the coaching staff intact and is ready to create even more school records starting this season.

Asked about last year, Olsen relied “We didn’t finish. Our goals for this season are the same as every season: 1.Win City, 2.Win the Southwestern League Championship, 3.Win the CIF Championship”. Olson has added one more on the list this year. 4. Win State .

Howard Nelson  is responsible for the defensive backs and Josh Cronkite oversees the linebackers. Cory Page is the Defensive Back Coach and Lonnie Ford the Defensive Line Coach.

13620857_1024163901037056_9081872392242871937_nRick Hansen is Vista Murrieta’s Offensive Coordinator. Hansen, an ex-quarterback for the Chicago Bears will also coach the signal callers. John Blakemore is the Wide Receiver Coach and Gene Miranda the Offensive Line Coach. The tight ends are coached by Joseph Ramer and Matt March takes care of the best offensive line in the Southwestern league. Brandon Trujillo is the varsity running backs coach.

The Broncos have another tough schedule of High School football this year. Vista Murrieta opens the season against Madison from San Diego at home on the 26th of August. The Warhawks were 8-3 last year and were the Western League Champions.

Game time is 7 PM.
