The Broncos Score all 34 Points in the First Half
Vista Murrieta traveled to San Diego Friday night to face undefeated Madison. The 4-0 Warhawks had beaten their last 3 opponents quite easily and looked to take advantage of the Broncos, who had lost their last two games.
Vista Murrieta took out their early season frustrations on the Warhawks. The Broncos offense exploded, jumping out to a 28-0 in the first quarter. Murrieta would score 6 more in the the second quarter to take a 34-0 lead at halftime.
The Bronco offense fell silent in the second half, but the defense continued to stand tall.
Defense end Peni Masiva got the Broncos scoring started. The junior picked up a Warhawk fumble and took it 35 yards for a touchdown in the opening quarter. Senior quarterback Michael David Jimenez then found wide open Rickie Johnson for a 61 yard TD pass.
Still in the first quarter, the Broncos special teams struck. Senior Alex Hill fielded a punt at midfield and raced 50 yards for a score. Moments later, Jimenez drove Vista down field and scored on a one yard keeper to make it 27-0.
Vista Murrieta scored its final touchdown in the second quarter. Jimenez tossed a 62 yard pass to senior wide receiver Alex Hill, for his second score of the game.
The Warhawks manged to score in the fourth quarter with 3 minutes left in the game. Senior quarterback Daniel Stokes denied the Broncos a shut out when he found the end zone with a 12 yard run. The score was set up by a Murrieta fumble.
The Broncos will be home next Friday night to host Loyola. The Cubs are 1-3 and lost 17-7 to Valencia last night.
Madison will lock horns with Cathedral Catholic.
