HS Football: This Week’s CIF Southern Section Polls are Out

Local Teams Fare Well in the Polls

The September 18th CIF Southern Section Football Polls are out and there are no surprises. There is no movement for local teams in Division 1 as Murrieta Valley and Vista Murrieta were both beaten last week.

In Division 2, Heritage slipped to the number 4 spot this week, The Patriots beat Redlands East Valley with a fourth quarter rally too win 49-29 Friday night.

Murrieta Mesa stays locked in the third spot in Division 4. The Rams looked impressive in their 62-21 rout over San Jacinto last week. Murrieta Mesa will face Moreno Valley’s Valley View Friday night.

In Division five two local teams shined, Paloma Valley moved down 2 spots to the 5th spot from number third. The Wildcats didn’t play well but still squeaked past Corona 21-13 in their last game.

The Big surprise in Division 5 is the emergence of Chaparral who jumped into the top ten. The Pumas are ranked 10th after winning 3 games in a row and beat Redlands 24-13 last week.

Elsinore lept to the third spot in Division 6with a big 27-14 victory over Chino Hills. The Tigers take on King this week. Lakeside is still ranked 8th in Division 11 after beating Orange Vista 34-28.

Rancho Christian Slipped into the number 2 spot in Division 12 this week. The Eagles were defeated by Valley Christian 62-32. Rancho Christian faces Division 9 mumber 1 ranked Aquinas this week.
