HS Girls Basketball: Great Oak Dominant as the Wolfpack Beats Murrieta Valley 54-39

Tianna Shaw Scores 16 to Lead the Pack Past the Nighthawks

Great Oak wasted no time in Monday night’s Southwestern league make-up game against Murrieta Valley. The Wolfpack jumped out to a 17-7 lead in the first period and never looked back. Senior Tianna Shaw scored 16 points, eight in the final period to lead Great Oak past the Nighthawks.

Murrieta Valley battled back in the second period and closed the gap to 24-20, but it was all Great Oak in the second half. The Wolfpack outscored the Nighthawks 30-19 and cruised to their third SWL victory.


Amanda Constant also scored 12 points for Great Oak. Ashley Waltz and Victoria Farris each had 8 points while Kevwe Anigbogu and Brooke Padgett added 4 more apiece.

Nighthawks center Megan Ormiston led all scorers with 18 points. Ashley Miller added 9 and Jillian Jinkins 5 more points. Alyssa Kreutzer and Paris Pettitt each scored 3 points apiece and Allison Gibson sank a free throw for Murrieta Valley.

The Niighthawks are 13-7 overall but slipped to 1-3 in league play. They play the Pumas next at Chaparral. Great Oak is now 10-8 overall, 3-1 in league and off to Temecula Valley on Wednesday.
