HS Girls Basketball: Great Oak Falls to Vista Murrieta 48-37

The Broncos Keep Putting the Pressure on the Southwestern League

Great Oak barely slowed down the Vista Murrieta juggernaut last night as the Broncos claimed their third straight Southwestern League victory with a 48-37 win over the Wolfpack.

The Broncos overwhelmed the Wolfpack early, getting out to a 18-6 lead in the first period and then outscoring Great Oak 10-7 in the second. With the score 28-13 as the third period began, the Wolfpack finally slowed things down and outscored the Broncos 24-20…but it was just too little, too late.

Senior Keilanei Cooper paced the Broncos with 13 points. Junior Gabby Stoll added 12 more and grabbed 6 rebounds. Freshman Maitland Kingsley scored 10 points and led VMHS with 6 rebounds. Both Dani Weinmann and Serrrena Jimerson scored 5 points against the Pack and Nakela Smith ended up with 3 more.

Amanda Constant led the Wolfpack with a 17 point effort against a tough Bronco defense. Tianna Shaw added 10, Victoria Farris 7 and Ashley Waltz 2 points. Brooke Padgett added a point from the Charity Stripe.

Vista Murrieta is now 10-3 overall and in first place in league with a 3-0 record. They will play the Golden Bears a Temecula Valley Friday. Great Oak is 9-8, 2-1 in league and is headed to Murrieta Valley to face the Nighthawks.
