HS Girls Basketball: Lancaster Baptist Slips by Calvary Murrieta in the CIF Southern Section Division 5A Quarterfinals

The Warriors End the Season with a 14-12 Record

Calvary Murrieta’s Magical “Cinderella’ season came to an end Wednesday night. The Warriors, who finished in fourth place in the South Valley league advanced all the way to the Quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 5A Championship Playoffs before being eliminated,

The Warriors had beaten Calvary Baptist 36-21 in the opening round and went on to defeat Samueli Academy 53-44 in round 2. They fell to Lancaster Baptist who slipped past the Warriors with a 42-39 victory.

Freshman Avery Taylor led Calvary Murrieta with 15 points. Junior Natalie Taylor was also in double figures, scoring 12 points for the Warriors and eight steals. Junior Caroline Csizzer and senior Cami Negri added 6 points apiece. Csizzer had 11 rebounds for Murrieta.

Lancaster Baptist was led by senior Christina Bernal who had 24 points and 21 rebounds. Sophomore Wendy Urquilla scored 10 points for the Eagles and Senior Clarissa, DePaulaRosa added 4 points.

The Warriors ended the season 14-12.
