HS Girls Basketball: Murrieta Mesa Crushes Chaparral 74-37 & Tied for Second Place in the Southwestern League

The Rams had 4 Players with Double Figures and had over 30 Assists

Murrieta Mesa crushed Chaparral 74-37 Friday night and improved to 4-2 in league play and moved into a tie for second place with Murrieta Valley in the Southwestern league. The Rams are 13-7 overall this season.

We came out strong right from the start and made it difficult for them to score with our tough defense. We struggled early to score but ended up shooting a very high percentage. This was one of our best team wins of the season” said Murrieta Mesa Coach Kyle Rouse.

The Rams shot out to a commanding 10 point lead in the first period and never looked back. It was 41-19 at the half as Murrieta Mesa cruised to victory.

We had 4 players with double figures and we had over 30 assists. Our ball movement and tempo were right where we wanted it to be”.

We were lead by a triple double from Deyjanae Williams with 17 points, 10 assists and 12 rebounds” added Coach Rouse. “Freshman Kayli Klemp scored a season high 15 points”.

Keslyn Henson also scored 12 points for the Rams while Jasonnia Burleson and Emilee Stallo added 8 each. Alexis Williams scored 6 points and Sage Estrada 5 for Murrieta Mesa.

Chaparral senior Savanna Villanueva led the Pumas with 11 points. Sophomores Cordelia Watkins added 10 and Zia Rapada 8.

In other Southwestern league action, Great Oak beat Murrieta Valley 42-35 and Vista Murrieta thrashed Temecula Vallley 74-29.
