HS Girls Basketball: Murrieta Valley Beats Elsinore 49-19 in Round 3 of the Lady Nighthawk Classic Tournament


The Nighthawks will Face Rancho Verde for the Championship Friday Night

Murrieta Valley defeated Elsinore 49-19 Wednesday night in Round 3 of the Lady Nighthawk Classic basketball tournament. The Nighthawks defense completely suffocated any offense that the Tigers tried to generate. Murrieta Valley shutout Elsinore in the first period and only gave up 4 points in the second to take a 27-4 lead at the half.

The Nighthawks continued to dominate in the second half, outscoring the Tigers 22-15 to claim the victory and advance to the Championship game against Rancho Verde Friday night.

Junior Megan Ormiston continued to lead Murrieta Valley as she scored 21 points. Junior Ashley Miller added 8 points, frshman Ellie Baca 7 while junior Megan Aubrey and senior Alyssa Kreutzer scored 4 apiece. Juniors Jillian Jinkins and Ashley Sweetnam scored 3 & 2 points against the Tigers.

 

 

 

Junior Isabella Marquez led Elsinore with 7 points. Senior guard Kaylie Drahiem scored 5 more and sophomore Hannah Osowski added 4 points for the Tigers. Elsinore is now 4-10 this season and will face Fallbrook this evening.

Rancho Verde blew right past Fallbrook 65-40 in their game last night. The Mustangs are 8-3. Junior guard Vanessa Vargas led Rancho Verde with 20 points. Sophomores Sarai Rivers scored 12 and Skye Lattermore 10 points while seniors Mikla Jackson and Angel Munoz each had 8 points. Sophomore Anise Netterville had 4 points for the Mustangs.

Sophomore Jessica Wilbert scored 14points for Fallbrook. Captain Janay Segura added 7 more and Sophomore Cali Southwell, senior Madison Williams and junior Sarah Ahmadpour each scored 5 points for the Warriors.

Fallbrook is 2-7 and will play Elsinore tonight.
