HS Girls Basketball: Murrieta Valley Coasts by Temecula Valley 50-37 in Southwestern League Action

Megan Oreneston Scores 22 Points to Lead the Nighthawks over the Golden Bears

Murrieta Valley jumped out to a huge 12 point lead in the first period of Friday nights Southwestern league match up with Temecula Valley and never looked back. The Nighthawks led 40-18 by halftime and would go on to beat the Golden Bears 50-37.

Murrieta Valley was led by Megan Oreneston who scored 22 points. Paris Pettitt added 12 more and Jillian Jinkins 6. Ashley Miller scored 5, Sinai Perez 3 and Alison Gibson 2 points for the Nighthawks.

Freshman Madison Packwood led Temecula Valley in scoring with 11 points. Emma Volmer added 7, Dianna Gerkin 6,Emily Gonzalez 5 and Kalan Hooks 4 points. Both Isabella Pena and Avriel Ciriani scored 2 points each for the Golden Bears.

In other Southwestern league action Vista Murrieta beat Chaparral 64-34. The Broncos jumped out to a 35-10 lead at halftime and never looked back.

Freshman, Lexi Mead nailed three 3-pointers and scored 16 points for the Broncos. Nakela Smith added 11 and Gaby Stoll was also in double figures with 10 points. Zia Rapada and Savannah Villanueva each scored 13 points for Chaparral.
