HS Girls Basketball: Six Local High School Teams Make this Week’s CIF-Southern Section “Top 16” Polls

Lakeside, Murrieta Mesa, Temecula Valley, Rancho Christian, Linfield Christian & Nuview Bridge Make the List

Lakeside Lancers

The CIF Southern Section’s first “Top 16” Polls of 2019 has been released and six Girls Basketball from local High Schools have made the list. The Selections were made by the CIF-SS Girls Basketball Advisory Committee.

In Division 2A Lakeside is ranked first. The Lancers, under the leadership of Coach Ed Raiford are off to a 13-2 start this season. Lakeside finished the season last year with a 13-14 record and finished second in the Sunbelt league.

Murrieta Mesa was the last team selected to the Division 3AA “Top 16” Polls. The Rams are off to a 6-11 start this season under new Coach Doug Ravasdy. Mesa was 14-12 last year and made it to round 2 of the CIF SS playoffs.

Temecula Valley Golden Bears

In Division 4A, Temecula Valley is ranked tied for tenth. The Golden Bears also have a new Coach in Kyle Rouse. Temecula is off to a great start this season and is 14-4 and won the Hesperia Tournament Championship.

Two local teams have been selected in Division 5AA.

Linfield Christian comes in ranked first in the Division. The Lions are led by Coach Derrick Oneil and are off to a red hot 12-1 start this season. Linfield finished with a record of 5-17 last year.

Rancho Christian Eagles

Rancho Christian is tied for ninth in the Division. The Eagles are coached by David Hall and are off to a 11-2 start. They made it to round 2 of last years CIF SS playoffs.

In Division 5A Nuview Bridge is ranked 8th. The Knights are 11-3 so far this season. Nuview begins league play against rival Santa Rosa tonight. They were 12- last year and finished third in league.
