HS Girls Basketball: Two Local Teams Advance to Round 3 of the 2019 CIF Southern Section Championship Playoffs

Calvary Murrieta will Battle Milken in their Round Two Playoff Game Tomorrow

Round Two of the 2019 CIF Southern Section Girls Basketball Playoff Championship brackets were played on Saturday night. Only two teams, Lakeside and Linfield Christian will advance to the quarterfinal round which will be played Wednesday night.

One team, Calvary Murrieta will play Milken in their second round playoff game Monday. The Warriors’ record is 13-12 and will be at home.

Lakeside’s bye in the first round of Division 2A play payed off Saturday. The Lancers beat Bonita 54-42 in front of a packed home court. Lakeside hits the road to Ventura and will face Foothill Tech in the next round. Lakeside is this year’s undefeated Champions of the Ivy league and are 23-3.


In Division 5AA Linfield Christian also drew a Bye in the first round of the tournament. The Ambassador league Champs crushed Hesperia Christian 65-28 Saturday. The Lions will be at home to take on Kaiser next. Linfield’s record is now 21-3.

Murrieta Mesa lost at of their Division 3AA to Cathedral 65-53. The Rams end the season hampered with injuries and with a record of 14-16.

In Division 4AA,Sunbelt league Champion Paloma Valley traveled to Pasadena to play Marantha. The Minutemen slipped past the Wildcats 50-47. Paloma Valley’s record was 19-10.

South Valley League Champion Nuview Bridge lost it’s Division 5A second round game. The Knights traveled to Valencia to take on Trinity Classic Academy and lost, 32-23.

Division 5A Santa Rosa Academy fell to Bloomington Christian 54-14 at home. The Rangers finished third in the South Valley league and finished the season at 10-9.

After crushing San Bernardino 55-10 in round one, Rancho Christian traveled to San Pedro to battle Mary Star of the Sea. The Stars edged the Eagles 61-58 to end their season. The Eagles were 18-4.
