HS Girls Basketball: Vista Murrieta Coasts to a 74-61 Victory over Norco

Gabby Stoll and Imari Cooley Finished with Double-Doubles to lead the Broncos Past the Cougars

Vista Murrieta cruised to a 74-61 victory over Norco Saturday to improve their season’s overall record to 19-2. It was their 11th consecutive victory. The Broncos look unstoppable and lead the Southwestern league with a perfect 6-0 record.

The Broncos jumped out to a 26-13 lead in the opening period and never looked back. The Cougars trailled 41-26 at the half and could not overcome the 13 point Bronco lead. Noroc outscored Murrieta 35-33 in the second half.

Vista Murrieta’s Gabby Stoll and Imari Cooley finished with double-doubles to lead the Broncos past the Cougars. Stoll scored 20 points with 13 rebounds Cooley put 15 in the hoop and 10 grabbed rebounds.

Maitland Kingsley also scored 15 points for Vista Murrieta. Lexi Mead added 10 more and Nakela Smith scored 7 points

Norco’s Naomi Yim scored 24 points and had seven assists for the Cougars. Teammate Nicole Rodriguez scored a career-high 20 points, with four steals and four rebounds. Anai Washington also had 10 points as Norco fell to 12-12 for the season.

Vista Murrieta faces second place Murrieta Mesa Tuesday as Southwestern league action continues. Norco takes on King who is on top of the Big V111 standings.
