Imari Cooley Scores 29 Points & Grabs 13 Rebounds for the Red Hot Broncos
Vista Murrieta cruised to a 89-39 victory as they inched closer to yet amother Southwestern league title. The Broncos have dominated Girls Basketball in the Southwestern league since 2012. The Broncos have won the Championship for the past five seasons.
This year, they have a 21-2 overall record and are 8-0 in league. Last nights victory over the Pumas means that the Broncos clinched a share of their sixth consecutive Southwestern league title.
The Broncos trailed 22-17 after the first quarter last night, but a 35-7 second quarter gave hem the opportunity to take control of the game. Imari Cooley scored 21 of her game-high 29 points in the first half. She also grabbed 13 rebounds for her double-double.
Freshman Lexi Mead scored 14 points and Gabby Stoll was also in double figures with 12 for Vista Murrieta. Nakela Smith added 8 points, Maitland Kingsley 5 while Noelani Bernardo and Jazmine Acedo each scored 4 points. Keiara Barton , Reece Lingat and Natalia Willis scored 3 apiece.
Chaparral as led by Savanna Villanueva who scored 23 points for the Pumas. Zia Rapada added another 11, Romy Laredo and Cordelia Watkins 2 points.
In other action in the Southwestern league, Murrieta Valley beat Temecula Valley 54-35 behind Megan Orminston’s 23 points. Great Oak edged Murrieta Mesa 39-37.
