Bronco Senior Keilanei Cooper Named as the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament
Vista Murrieta cruised past Lakeside 55-40 on their way to claiming the Championship of this year’s Chino Hills Invitational Girls Basketball Tournament. The Broncos exploded in the first period to take a 20-9 lead and Vista Murrieta led 28-15 at the half.
“It was nice to see us jump out to a comfortable double figure lead at halftime” said Vista Murrieta Coach Kurt Ruth. “We even extended that lead to over 20 points by the end of the third quarter. It was a little sloppy in the fourth quarter, but ultimately we did what we had to do to win the game and the tournament championship”.
“We made 12 three-pointers in the game; six by Keilanei Cooper, five by senior Dani Weinmann and another by freshman Maitland Kingsley” added Ruth.
Cooper ended the game with 26 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists and was named Tournament MVP . Weinmann added 19 points and 9 rebounds, Kingsley.led the Broncos with 11 rebounds scored 7 points and 7 more assists. Junior play maker Keiara Barton was selected to the All-Tournament Team.
The Broncos are off to Eastvale to play Roosevelt on Tuesday. The Mustangs are 4-2
