Deyjanae Williams Scores 25 Points to Lead the Rams Past the Pumas in their “Hoopcoming” Game
Murrieta Mesa was dominant in Friday night’s Southwestern league match up with Chaparral. The Rams, led by Deyjanae Williams, broke out to an early 20-7 lead in the first period and never looked back.
“We had 10 scorers in this game” said Coach Kyle Rouse. “We also had a team total of 24 steals. We are now 15-5 overall on the season this year and this Ram team has tied the school record for most wins in the regular season”.
The Rams would out score the Pumas 35-4 in the next three periods to coast to a 55-11 victory. Williams had 25 points to lead the Ram attack. Alina Villanueva was next with 8 points and Tristine Ciling added six more.
Chaparral’s Zia Rapada led the Pumas with 5 points. Sole Suffrin, Mikayla Howard and Taylor Fillipi each scored a basket against the tough, physical Rams defense.
The Pumas are 0-4 in league and will be home to battle Murrieta Valley Wednesday. The Rams will be at Vista Murrieta to take on the red-hot, undefeated Broncos.
