HS Girls Soccer: Six Local High Schools Advance to Play in Round 2 of the CIF SS Championship Playoffs

Vista Murrieta, Temecula Valley, Paloma Valley, Great Oak, Santa Rosa Academy & Calvary Murrieta Advance into Round 2 of the Playoffs

The CIF Southern Section Girls Soccer Championship Playoffs are under way and eight local High Schools teams played in Round One games.

In Division 1, Vista Murrieta faced San Clemente who was ranked 7th in the Division in the last CIF SS Polls. The Broncos beat the Tritons 2-1 and will advance to play La Mirada in the next round.

In Division 2, Southwestern league Champion Temecula Valley handed Marina a 3-1 loss. The Golden Bears were undefeated in league play, ended the regular season 16-6-2 and ranked 7th in the Division. They play Corona del Mar next. .

Three local teams played in the Division 4 CIF SS Championship. Sunbelt league Champion Paloma Valley scored a 2-0 opening round victory over Paramount. The Wildcats were ranked number one in the CIF SS Division 4 Polls and will advance to face Palm Desert.

Temescal Canyon lost to La Canada by a goal 1-0. The Titans finished second in the Sunbelt league and ended with a record of 11-8-6. .

Great Oak was victorious in their opening round outing in the Division 4 playoffs. The Wolfpack beat Silverado in a tough 3-2 contest. Great Oak will play El Segundo in round 2.

In the Division 6 Playoffs, Nuview Bridge played Savanna. Although ranked 4th in the last CIF SS Polls, the Knights were shut out 2-0.

Santa Rosa Academy, also playing in Division 6 and was the other Champion in the South Valley League. The Rangers beat Wilson 2-1 and advance to battle Pomona Catholic.

Calvary Murrieta faced off against Ramona Convent in the Division 7 Playoffs. The Warriors, ranked 5th in the Division held on to beat Ramona Convent 4-3. Calvary Murrieta plays St. Bernard next.
