HS Girls Soccer: Temecula Valley Beats El Dorado in Overtime 3-2…Advances to the CIF SS Semifinals

Kenzie Vehlow Scores 3 Goals to lead the Golden Bears to Victory

Temecula Valley slipped past El Dorado 3-2 in Friday night’s Quarterfinal of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 Championship Playoffs. The Golden Bears reached deep down and came up with a dramatic double overtime victory to reach the Semifinal game.

While our goal is to win, it was our goal to also be undefeated at home for this 2017-2018 season” said Temecula Valley Coach Jennifer Guinn. “This team has faced a lot of adversity this season and they work and overcome it. Very proud of how all of the girls battled and supported each other. We knew when the Overtime hit that we wanted to come out celebrating and not feeling defeated”.

The game was 2-2 when regulation time expired. Kenzie Vehlow scored the winning goal in the second overtime period. “Kenzie Vehlow put away 3 goals tonight and did it with the support of her entire team” said Coach Guinn. “I am so happy for this group of girls, and their families to have this amazing ride into the playoffs”.

Shelby Kain and Mia Guerrero scored the two goals for the Golden Hawks.

Temecula Valley is 21-6-2 and El Dorado’s season ended last night at 20-6-2. The Golden Bears will play Cyprus in the Semifinals.

We hit the road Tuesday for the Semifinals of CIF for the second year in a row” said Guinn. The Golden Bears have a deep history being a great program. We hope that this group will make all of our past Bears proud”.
