HS Girls Soccer: Temecula Valley Cruises Past Scripps Ranch 3-1 in the Division 2 Southern California Regional Opener

The Golden Bears Advance to Face Cypress at Home on Thursday in the Regional Semifinals

Temecula Valley The Bears (23-7-2) slipped past Scripps Ranch 3-1 in the Division 2 Southern California Regional Opener. The Golden Bears will now advance to face Cypress at home Thursday in the regional semifinals.

Freshman Megan Witz was the first to score for the Bears Junior midfielder Jo Marie Vanderbyl would head one in from a corner kick from sophomore Emma Thrapp and Temecula was ahead 2-0 in the first half.

Senior defender Emiliee Garret scored the third Golden Bear goal in the second half. Scripps Ranch scored in the 75th minute to ruin the Bear’s shutout.

I just think the girls did a really good job staying focused and being mentally prepared for the game,” said Temecula Valley coach Jennifer Guinn. “It’s a mental challenge to come off that final-match championship win and to come back and play again so quickly. They did a good job under those circumstances.”

The Bears are now 23-7-2 and the CIF Southern Section Division 2 Champions. They have never won a CIF Regional Championship… Temecula Valley coach Jennifer Guinn would love that for her girls.
