The Golden Bears Finished the Season 16-6-2 Overall while Winning the Tough Southwestern League 8-0-2
Temecula Valley is the 2018 Southwestern League Champion. The Golden Bears finished the regular season with a perfect 8-0-2 record, two games ahead of rival Vista Murrieta. This is Temecula’s first undefeated League Championship in 11 years. The last time was in 2006-07.
The Golden Bears are very well rounded. “We have four senior starters that have lead this team to the undefeated league championship” said Temecula Valley Coach Jennifer Quinn. “I am looking forward to watching this group continue to come together and play with the same strength during the playoffs as I have seen from them all season”.
Captain Sophie Ghaderiis a 4 year varsity senior letter athlete. She is dangerous on the outside and creates many scoring opportunities. She is a threat on the left and the right side of the field and attacks well and has scored over 4 goals. 4.57 GPA
Emiliee Garrett is the Center Back, The senior is a solid vocal defender who has commanded her back line and led them through the season with only allowing 8 goals this season. She contributes to the goals scored this season with many assists. She is a natural leader and has a shut out in Goal as a goal keeper. “She would not hesitate to hop in and be there for our team” said Qunin. “She scored the winning goal as a Center Back this Thursday night to tie the game to clinch the Southwestern League Championship.
Junior Kenzie Vehlow commands the middle as an attacker. She is dangerous, strong, very technical and tactical on and off the ball. She has a 5.0 GPA and is a natural leader. She was voted in as a team captain in her junior year. “Kenzie is special and works very hard on and off the field.” added Quinn.
Christine Goodman is a junior who is a threat on the outside Forward line as well as the Center Forward spot. Christine has lead the Golden Bears to victory by being one of the leading scorers this season. She is fast and smart on the ball. Looks to go to net and is dangerous.
“Emma Thrapp is a natural defender with a ton of possibility to play in a holding mid situation” said Quinn. Emma is vocal and was a huge contributing factor towards this championship”. The junior is a second year varsity starter and has some high goals for the CIF Playoffs.
Freshman Morgan Witz. is very fast and dangerous. She creates many opportunities in front of the goal. “She has put away critical goals that contributed to the outcome of this season as well” said Quinn. “She’s very skillful and has a solid shot on goal. We are looking forward to seeing her grow within this program”.
The Golden Bears will face Marina in the first round the CIF Southern Section Division 2 Championship Playoffs on Thursday, February 15th. The Vikings are 16-5-4 and placed third in the Sunset league.
