HS Girls Volleyball: Capistrano Valley Christian Ends Rancho Christian’s Season in Round One of the CIF SS Division 9 Championship Playoffs

Rancho Christian fell to Capistrano Valley Christian in 4 sets in round one of the CIF Southern Section Championship Playoffs. The Eagles had swept La Sierra Academy in Saturday’s Wildcard game to qualify for the playoffs. Capistrano advances to play Vasquez in Round Two.

14717258_1087557901362955_6841954487436608434_n-1Rancho Christian dropped the first 2 sets 25-23 an 25-15, then came back to take the third set 26-24. Capistrano Valley came soaring back in the fourth set to win 25-20. Capistrano was led by sophomore Keanna Rutz who scored 29 kills. Junior Sophia Pluhar added 12 kills for the Eagles. Junior Jessica Wilson came up with 19 digs.

Rancho Christian junior Emma Baker led the Eagles with 19 kills and 15 digs. Freshman Emily Vaniman added 7 kills and junior Savannah Page had 5 blocks for the Eagles. Sophomore Randi Pico came up with 14 digs and had 5 kills in the loss.

Rancho Christian finishes the 2016 season with a overall record of 16-17 and finished third in the South Valley League.
