HS Girls Volleyball: Chaparral Sweeps Canyon High 25-22. 25-18. 25-16.

The Pumas swept the Comanche’s 25-22. 25-18 25-16 as they prepared for their opening Southwestern League match. The Pumas will face 3-time League Champion Great Oak on Thursday.14446104_1457161937644466_5161365859646271464_n

Senior Jessica Haynie led Chaparral with 13 kills. Sophomore Morgan Johnson had 12 kills and 10 digs, while junior Kaili Downs also had 12 kills for the Pumas. Junior setter Hailey Carter had 24 assists, junior Olivia Vasquez added 13 more and senior Karli Koza had 20 digs for Chaparral.

“I like that our team is trying to play good volleyball as a team” said Pumas Coach Dana Burkholder.. “They understand the importance of the situation and the decisions they make and only good things can come from that.”

14448964_1457163917644268_3734206466609964332_nThe Pumas are now 8-3 as they begin League play. Chaparral will be traveling to the Wolf’s Den to face Great Oak. The Wolfpack is the Defending Three-time Southwestern League Champion and are always a tough opponent. Game time is 5:30pm.
