HS Girls Water Polo: CIF Southern Section Playoffs Begin on Valentine’s Day

 Six Teams from the Southwestern & Sunbelt Leagues Ready to Compete

The CIF Southern Section Girls Water Polo Championship playoffs get underway this Tuesday, February 14th. Chaparral will get things started in their Wildcard game at Chino Hills. The Pumas are 16-11 and finished third in the Southwester league.



Also on Tuesday, Elsinore ( 14-14) and Temescal Canyon (15-12) will play Wildcard games. The Titans, who finished second in the Sunbelt will be home to host South Pasadena while the Tigers head to Norco to face the Cougars.

Murrieta Valley (23-7) is the defending CIF SS Division 2 Champion and they have moved up to Division 1 this season. The Nighthawks are the perennial Water Polo Powerhouse in the Temecula Valley and have won an unprecedented 12 Playoff Openers in a row. They will have their hands full with Orange Lutheran in this year’s opener on Wednesday.

The Sunbelt league’s newest Champion, Lakeside (17-12) is the number one seed in Division 6. The Lancers won the league Championship for the first time in the school’s history and are looking to make a splash in the playoffs. They are home to take on Glendale on Thursday.



Vista Murrieta will travel to Santa Monica for their Division 2 Opening round match. The Broncos are 21-7 so far this season and finished second to the Nighthawks in the Sothwestern League.
