HS Girls Water Polo: Murrieta Mesa Rolls Over Temecula Valley 14-7


The Nighthawks Overwhems Vista Murrieta as Chaparral Blows Past Great Oak 9-3 in Southwestern League Action

Murrieta Mesa evened their Southwestern League record to 1-1 with a dominant 14-7 win over Temecula Valley yesterday. The Pumas improved to 14-4 overall with the victory. The Golden Bears are now 6-6.

The girls started off slow but really picked it up in the second quarter” said Murrieta Mesa Coach Audra Woods. “Kate Fox led the team offensively as well as led the team in the pool. Ashley Lybbert and Crystal Branscome made quite an impactful as well. We’re looking forward the five County tournament this weekend to see how we do”

The Golden Bears are ranked fifth in this week’s CIF Southern Section Division 6 Polls . They were tied with Mesa 1-1 in the first period. The Rams then exploded for 7 goals in the second period and put the game out of reach at the half 8-2.

Kate Fox led Murrieta Mesa’s attack with 7 goals. Crystal Branscom had 3 goals and, Ashley Lybbert added 2 more. Randi Lynch and Rose Nethercutt put one goal into the net apiece. Goalie Taylor Taite had 4 saves in the victory.

The Golden Bears take on Great Oak at 5pm tomorrow at home. The Rams will be away to face JW North in a non-league game.
