HS Softball: The CIF Southern Section Polls are Out…Four Local Teams Ranked in the Top 10 in their Divisions

Murrieta Mesa, Great Oak, Paloma Valley and Linfield Christian are Ranked in the First Poll of the Season

The first CIF Southern Section Girls Softball Poll is out and four local teams have been ranked in the Top 10 in their respective Divisions. Murrieta Mesa, Great Oak, Paloma Valley and Linfield Christian  have all made the list.

In Division 1, Murrieta Mesa is ranked 8th in the Poll. The Rams are the Defending CIF SS Division 3 Champions and have jumped 2 Divisions this season. Murrieta is led by senior and captain Autumn Pease, junior Kelci Hill and sophomores Presligh Pilon and Lauren Randle. They are 10-3.

Great Oak is ranked right behind the Rams in the 9th  spot in Division 1. The Wolfpack finished second in the Southwestern league, a game behind arch rival Vista Murrieta. Great Oak is currently 15-8.

Paloma Valley is ranked sixth in Division 4. The Wildcats finished second in the Sunbelt league last year behind Temescal Canyon. Paloma Valley relies on two junior pitchers. Cassidy Holmgren and Josie Gonzalez on the mound. The Wildcats are 7-5.

In Division 5 Linfield Christian comes in at the 9th spot. The Lions have put together an impressive 8-1 record this year. Linfield is led by pitcher Alex Perez. The senior already has 5 wins and is batting .600.

Junior catcher Payton Howie is solid as a rock and hitting .438. Another junior Ariel Artiga is hitting .350 for the Lions.
