HS Softball: Great Oak Beats Murrieta Mesa 10-0 to Take Command of the Southwestern League

Catcher Sara Kinch Hits a Grand Slam in the First-inning as the Wolfpack Rolls

Great Oak struck early, as catcher Sara Kinch hit a Grand Slam in the first-inning to start the 10-0 rout of Murrieta Mesa. The two teams came into the game tied for first place with 4-0 records in the Southwestern league and the anticipation was high.

Mesa ace Autumn Pease opened the game as she who struck out the first two hitters. She intentionally walked Great Oak slugger Mata Faapito and then got into trouble when she hit the next batter and gave up a walk to the next. Kinch came up and hit her first pitch over the fence for a Grand Slam.

The Wolfpack scored three more in the third inning, two in the fifth and clinched it in the sixth as the game was called due to the 10-run rule.

Great Oak pitcher Paulina Johnson got the win for the Wolfpack. Pease pitched four innings before Lacie Hamm came in to relieve for the Rams.

Kayla Edwards also hit a home run for the Wolfpack. Yawaywish Laupsa Briones, Mata Faapito and Serna Slavey each got two hits for

Great Oak. Mary Nejo doubled.

The two teams will face off again Thursday with the Southwestern league title on the line.
