HS Softball: Murrieta Mesa Beats Great Oak 7-2 and Slips Into a Tie for First in the Southwestern League

Pitcher Autumn Pease Gets the Victory & Freshman Maisyn Cadena Drives in 3 Runs for the Rams

It’s all deadlocked at the top of the Southwestern league standings. Murrieta Mesa slipped back into a tie for first place with a 7-2 victory over Great Oak Thursday.

The Rams, eager for revenge of Tuesday’s crushing 10-0 loss to the Wolfpack. Murrieta Mesa scored six runs in the bottom of the third and one in the sixth as they improved to 117-7 overall and 5-1 in league play.

The Wofpack scored twice in the fifth inning. Great Oak is now 19-3-1 and tied with the Rams for first place in the Southwestern league.

Autumn Pease took the win for Murrieta Mesa. The senior allowed four hits and two runs over seven innings. She was back in her regular form, striking out ten and only walking one.

Freshman Maisyn Cadena drove in 3 runs for the Rams with a double in the third. Seniors Breena Anderson, Pease and juniors

Jada Cody and Kelci Hill also drove in a run apiece for Murrieta Mesa.

Mata Faapito started the game for Great Oak. She lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out one. Kayla Edwards went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Great Oak in hits.

In other Southwestern league action, Vista Murrieta crushed Chaparral 15-6 while Murrieta Valley beat Temecula Valley 11-1.

Great Oak will play Murrieta Valley on Tuesday. The Rams are off to Temecula to face Chaparral.
