The Rams are the Southwestern League Champions Two Games ahead of Second Place Great Oak
It was close for two innings. That’s when the big bats at Murrieta Mesa woke up. The Rams would score 10 runs in the last 5 innings to beat Murrieta Valley 11-1 Thursday and clinch the Southwestern league Championship. Great Oak lost to Vista Murrieta 11-0 and dropped into second place. It was Murrieta Mesa’s first league Title.
Presleigh Pilon got 3 hits and scored 5 runs for the Rams. The Sophomore also hit a home run in the third inning and drove in 3 runs. Autumn Pease also drove in 3 runs and pitched a 7 hitter and beat the Nighthawks.
Pease gave up just one run on seven hits over seven innings. The senior ended up striking out nine Nighthawks as she was dominant all day long.
Maisyn Cadena also had a 3 hit day. The freshman scored twice and knocked in a run. Senior Breena Anderson, and junior Jada Cody each had RBI for the Rams. Junior Kelci Hill doubled and scored.
Bailey Williams singled and stole second base in the first inning for Murrieta Valley. Senior Mekenna Tjaden drove her home with a single for the Nighthawks only run.
Jennelle Munoz took the loss for Murrieta Valley. The sophomore lasted three and a third innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs. Seniors Abby Strom, Makena Smith and sophomore Sara Bhatt also pitched for the Nighthawks.
The CIF Southern Section Championship Playoff brackets will be annnouced at noon on Monday, May 14th.
