HS Softball: Murrieta Mesa Powers Past Chaparral 12-2 as Autumn Pease records her 500th Strike Out

Lacie Ham, Breena Anderson & Kelci Hill Hit Home Runs in the Rams Victory

Murrieta Mesa solidified it’s lead in the Southwestern league Softball standings yesterday as the Rams coasted past Chaparral 12-2 in six innings. The Rams are in first place ahead of Great Oak with only two games left to play against arch rival Murrieta Valley.

Coach Antonio Romero named junior Kelci Hill as the player of the game. Hill hit a home run, double and single to drive in 5 runs for Murrieta Mesa. Freshman Lacie Ham and senior Breena Anderson also showed some power against the Pumas hitting a home run apiece.

Autumn Pease earned the win for Murrieta Mesa. The senior recorded her 500th strike out as a varsity softball player. She went six innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out 11 and not walking a batter.

Sophomore Presleigh Pilon came up with 3 hits in the game, Bella Flexen and Pease had two each for the Rams. Freshman Maisyn Cadena doubled in three runs. Senior Amanda Kubski had a stolen base.

Junior Julia Leslie started the game and took the loss for Chaparral. She went five innings, allowing nine runs on 11 hits. Senior Aylin Naranjo came in to relieve her and allowed three runs on three hits in the final inning.

Alyssa Wenzel was the offensive star for the Pumas. The junior scored a run, knocked in 2 and stole 2 bases.. Junior Emily Hernandez also scored for Chaparral and freshman Makenzie Guiliano stole 2 bases.

In other Southwestern league action, Great Oak beat up on Murrieta Valley 13-3 and Vista Murrieta edged past Temecula Valley 9-6.
