Jennelle Muñoz was the Winning Pitcher and Kate Farren Hits the First Home Run of the Season for the Nighthawks
Murrieta Valley won it’s third game of the new season with a convincing 8-3 victory over Chino on Tuesday. The Nighthawks are now 3-2 and looking for more wins for rookie head coach Will Picquelle.
Murrieta Valley opened up scoring in the first inning. Junior shortstop Kate Farren‘s sacrifice fly scored one run. The Nighthawks Varsity scored three more runs in the second inning. Farren homered in the inning and had 4 RBIs in the game.
The Nighthawks racked up eight hits in the game. Makena Smith tripled, singled and scored twice. Ryann Steiner doubled, scored and drove in 2 runs. Bailey Williams had a run batted in and Kylee Lancaster, McKenna Tjaden, Jillian Vitamonti and Alexis Buchanan scored a run each.
Sophomore Jennelle Muñoz was the winning pitcher for Murrieta Valley. She gave up two runs on eight hits over five and two-thirds innings. She struck out four and didn’t give up a walk. Senior Brooke Shepard came in to throw a third of an inning in relief.
Junior pitcher Violet Salazar, took the loss for Chino. Kayli Millsap hit an inside the park, 3 run homerun in the fifth inning for the Cowboys. Milaysia Ochoa and Katana James both went 2 for 2 for Chino.
Murrieta Valley next plays Hillcrest on Thursday at 3pm.
