HS Softball: Santa Rosa Academy Edges Grace Brethren 2-1 in the CIF SS Quarterfinals

Skyler Belleville’s Home Run Wins it for the Rangers

Santa Rosa Academy defeated Grace Brethren 2-1 in the 2017 CIF Southern Section Quarterfinals Thursday afternoon, The Rangers won the game on a dramatic 2 home run by Skyler Belleville to advance to the Division 7 Semifinal game against Santa Ynez.

The Lancers jumped out to an early one run lead in the first inning. Junior Kylie Tahan settled down and found her rhythm in the circle and shut down the Lancer attack. She struck out 6 while allowing only 3 hits.

Freshman Jessie Fontes pitched an incredible game for Grace Brethren. She struck out 16 batters, allowing only one hit to the Rangers. Unfortunately, it was the home run to Belleville with teammate Meghan Drake aboard.

The Rangers are now 18-9 overall and will face Santa Ynez. The Pirates possess a 19-7 record and wiped out Connely High in their Quaterfinal match.
