HS Softball: Seven Local Teams will Compete in the 2019 CIF Southern Section Championship Playoffs

Great Oak Seeded Second in Division 1

Pairings for the 2019 CIF Southern Section Championship Playoffs were announced today. Seven local teams qualified for this year’s tournament. Great Oak, Vista Murrieta, Paloma Valley Nuview Bridge and Santa Rosa Academy have first-round berths. Temecula Valley and Heritage have made the Wildcard round.

The softball playoff s will be a seven-divisional format, with 243 total teams entered. The single-elimination on tournaments will open on Tuesday, April 30 with wild-card round contests.

First-round games in all divisions will be played on Thursday, May 2. The championships will be held on Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18. All games are scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m.

Great Oak and Vista Murrieta will be competing in Division 1. The Wolfpack won the Southwestern League title and is seeded second behind Norco. Great Oak plays ML King and the Broncos face Riverside Poly Thursday.

Inland Valley co-Champion Paloma Valley will begin the tournament against Rancho Cucamonga in Division 3 play. The Wildcats were 11-8 this season.

Division 6 will have South Valley Champion Nuview Bridge taking on the winner of the San Gorgonio-San Andreas wildcard game. The Knights record this season is 18-3.

Santa Rosa Academy will host Lutheran in round 1 in Division 7. The Rangers won the South Eastern league champions and finished the regular season 11-3.

Two teams are in the Wildcard playoffs. In Division 2, Southwestern leagues third place finisher Temecula Valley will play Don Lugo Mt. Baldy.

The Sunbelt league’s Heritage will play Hillcrest. The Patriots are 14-8 and tied with Arlington for second place in league.
