HS Softball: Vista Murrieta Slips By Great Oak 10-9 in Extra Innings in the Final Game of the Regular Season


The Wolfpack Finishes Second and the Broncos Third in the Southwestern League

It took Vista Murrieta nine innings to beat Great Oak 10-9 on the final day of the 2018 season. The Wolfpack Finished second and the Broncos third in the Southwestern League standings behind first time Champ Murrieta Mesa.

The Broncos hit 2 home runs and won it on a passed ball in the ninth inning.

The win was great…it’s the result of the girls’ hard-work and trust in what we’ve been working on all season” said Vista Murrieta Coach Katie Terrazas. “They kept their composure, respected the game, kept fighting, and good things happened. It’s always a great day to win, but to win on senior day makes it a little more special”.

Aly Montesino and Abie Nowak were the offensive stars for the Broncos. Montesino hit a 2 run home run and pitched six and 2/3 shutout innings. Nowak went 3 for 5 at the plate and blasted a 3 run home run.

Jaylon Davis and Alesia Denby both had 4 hits for the Broncos. They also drove in a run apiece. Amani Bradley also came up with 4 hits against the Wolfpack. Kassy Torres and Brie Nowak had 3 hits each and Nowak threw out a base runner at second and drove in 2. Ashley

Cortez went 3 for 5 at the plate

Both teams now are getting ready for the CIF Southern Section Championship Playoffs. The brackets will be announced Monday at

noon. “Going in to CIF Playoffs with a great win is definitely a momentum builder” said Terrazas. “We are looking to keep building on it going forward”.
