HS Softball: Vista Murrieta Slips Past Murrieta Valley 4-2 on Tuesday


The Broncos Get Home Runs from Alesia Denby & Ashley Cortez to Beat the Nighthawks

Vista Murrieta slipped past Murrieta Valley 4-2 on Tuesday in Southwestern league action. The Broncos improved to 10-7 overall and are 1-0 in league. Murrieta Valley falls to 8-12.

Both teams had strong outings on the mound on Tuesday. Briza Blanco was the winning pitcher for Vista Murrieta. She pitched six and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and one run. She also struck out five.

Murrieta Valley struck first. The Nighthawks scored their only two runs in the first inning. McKenna Tjaden bit a home run on a 3-2 count, driving in Kate Farren.

The Broncos tied things up at two when Amani Bradley doubled on a 2-1 count. Bradley would end up going 3 for 3 at the plate. Vista Murrieta would get solo home runs from Alesia Denby and Ashley Cortez to pull away from the Nighthawks for the victory.

Sara Bhatt started the game and took the loss for Murrieta Valley. She allowed three runs over six innings on five hits. The sophomore struck out three and walked one.

In other Southwestern league action, Autumn Pease pitched a perfect game as Murrieta Mesa crushed Temecula Valley 11-0. Meanwhile, Great Oak defeated Chaparral 16-2 in a game that was stopped in the sixth inning.

Vista Murrieta and Murrieta Valley will face one another again Thursday.
