HS Softball: Will Picquelle Named Head Coach of the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks


The Nighthawks are Looking to Improve on Last Season’s 12-15 Record & 4th Place Finish in the Southwester League

Murrieta Valley High School has named Will Picquelle the Head Varsity Softball Coach. Will has been coaching softball for the past 17 years at both the travel ball and high school levels. Most recently he was the head softball coach at El Camino High School in Oceanside and Santa Rosa Academy in Menifee.

We are extremely excited to have Coach Picquelle working with our young ladies. He brings excitement and a wealth of knowledge to our program” said Athletic Director Darin Mott. “His knowledge of the game, and his passion for kids and their development…both athletically and academically really showed in the interview process.”

My goals as the new head coach for MVHS are simple. To build a program that is competitive and strives to bring the best out of the student athletes” said Picquelle. “I want to provide a positive and energetic learning environment for our softball players who are looking to learn and play at the most competitive levels. I have great expectations to reach Championship level play and bring a positive and winning tradition to MV.

Picquelle has an impressive track record. He took Santa Rosa Academy from 8th to 3rd in league in his first season as coach. He then took the Rangers and went undefeated in their division and won the league playoff Championship.He repeated the feat his second season.

Picquelle was the Head coach for El Camino High School in Oceanside last season where he completely overhauled the program. He joined Murrieta Valley this year to reinvent and revitalize the Nighthawk Softball program and restore it’s winning traditions and culture. 

I look forward to bringing this program into a more competitive level” said Picquelle. “I want to be able to compete and to bring championships to Murrieta Valley for many years to come”.
