HS Track & Field: Great Oak Sweeps the Division 1 Girls & Boys Team Titles at the CIF Southern Section Divisional Championships

Vista Murrieta Takes Third & Murrieta Mesa Won the Division 2 Boys Team Championship Title Saturday

Great Oak swept the Division 1 Team Championships on Saturday. It was the second time in the past three seasons that the Wolfpack has swept the event.

The Boys team dominated scoring 73 points. Upland came in second with 38 and Vista Murrieta placed third with 30 points. The Wolfpack Girls won easily as well with 65 points as Long Beach Poly took second (45 points) and Chino Hills third (37 points).

I felt like the kids came into the meet with an understanding of what they needed to do and executed accordingly” said Great Oak Coach Doug Soles. “The Southern Section is so difficult and deep, that consistent performance is the hard part. So proud to see the kids focused on putting up the points they were projected to get. The boys will turn their attention to going after a State Title in 2 weeks”.

The Wolfpack Boys team was led by C.J. Stevenson. The jumper lept 23 feet, 2 inches in the long jump and 50 feet, 6 3/4 inches in the triple jump for gold medals. The senior also sparked the Wolfpack’s 400 relay team to victory. Great Oak’s Jamie Navarro and Harrison Gould finished first and second in the shot put.

The Great Oak girls were led by distance runners Fatima Cortes, Tori Gaitan, Arianna Griffiths and Sandra Pflughoft. Summer Stevenson and Sami Bollinger finished third and fourth in the Ttiple jump.
