HS Volleyball: Chaparral Beats Murrieta Mesa 25-16, 25-14, 29-27

The Pumas Play Temecula Valley in the Final Regular Season Match Tuesday

Chaparral swept Murrieta Mesa in 3 sets Tuesday, where the Rams fought hard to the end, losing the final set 29-27. The Pumas have one game remaining in the regular season…Tuesday’s key match against Temecula Valley.

Senior Kaili Downs led the Puma attack against the Rams. She had 11 kills to go along with 17 digs. Junior Allison Selway added 8 kills for Chaparral. The Pumas had 9 aces in the match. Haley Hargett led the team with 4 and Silvia Ianeselli and Maxeene Quiambao had 2 each.

Denise Sy was the defensive leader and had 21 digs for the Pumas. Jackie Stenton and Haley Hargett also had 10 digs apiece. Hargett also had 18 assists and Sophia Torres another 10.

Murrieta Mesa is win less in league play. The Rams are in Division 3 and are optimistic about a CIF SS Playoff berth. They play Murrieta Valley for their final regular season game Tuesday.

The Golden Bears are a game up on the rival Broncos and have just one more game to win to claim the Southwestern league title outright. They play the pesky Pumas Tuesday night. Chaparral would love to spoil Temecula Valley’s celebration. The Pumas have one idea on their minds. Upset.
