HS Volleyball: Chaparral Beats Murrieta Valley in 4 Sets Tuesday


The Pumas are Gaining Recognition in this Week’s CIF Southern Section Polls

Chaparral beat Murrieta Valley in a tough four set match Tuesday 25-21, 22-25, 25-23, 25-15. With the Victory, the Pumas celebrated their 16th place ranking in this week’s CIF Southern Section Division 1-2 polls.

Brooklyn Frederick led the Pumas with 14 kills, and Bella Rittenberg and Liana Woodley added 11 and 9 respectively. Alondra Almaraz led the defense with 19 digs, while Saige Rivera added 45 assists in the tense four set match.

Our league continues to be a challenge and tonight was no exception. MV plays tenacious defense and they’re rarely out of system” said Chaparral coach Gale Johnson. “I’m proud of our girls for keeping our hitting errors to a minimum and being patient during the long rallies. MV is talented. We respect their team so we’re excited about this win”.

In other Southwestern league action, Vista Murrieta beat Murrieta Mesa in straight sets. Temecula Valley battled the Wolfpack and won in 5 sets.
