Chaparral won a tough one Tuesday night, coming away with a 4 set victory over Murrieta Mesa. The Pumas prevailed behind the combined efforts of Kaili Downs and Liz Johnson in a closely contested 25-19,25-22, 23-25,25-23 victory.
“The strength the Southwestern league exposed a few areas we needed to improve on” said Murrieta Mesa coach Pat Manning after the tough loss. “We’re developing an identity and confidence we didn’t have early on.The last two matches have indicated we were a couple plays from extending both games to 5”.
Murrieta Mesa junior Kali Uhl was all over the court for the Rams. She led the team with 28 kills and 26 digs. Kiara Schmidt came up with 37 digs and Savannah Esteban had 45 assists.
The Division 3 Rams remain optimistic about the remainder of the Southwestern league season.“Even though we have many returning players from last season. this is a new team” said coach Manning. “We graduated strong senior leadership last year and are just now starting to settle on specific roles… and discovering who are leaders are”.
