HS Volleyball: Chaparral Wins the Citrus Valley Tournament Championship

Freshman Bella Rittenberg Named Tournament MVP & Sophomore Saige Rivera was All Tournament

Chaparral High School Girl’s Volleyball team won the Citrus Valley Tournament this weekend. The Pumas were dominant as they rolled off five victories and won every match in straight sets.

Freshman Bella Rittenberg was named the MVP of the Citrus Valley Tournament. Sophomore Saige Rivera was selected on the All Tournament team.

The Pumas began the tournament by defeating Saugus 25-16, 25-20. 

Their next victim was Oak Hills who fell to Chaparral 25-17, 27-25. Granite Hills was next and was destroyed 25-6, 25-12 by the Pumas. Bonita fell 25-13, 25-15 which sent Chaparral into the Championship game against Hemet. 

In the final match of the tournament, the Pumas were devastating as they pounced ob and soundly defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 25-15, 25-16.

Many of the teams in the tournament had 20 plus wins last season.

After winning back to back tournaments our focus is to keep working” said Chaparral Head Coach Gail Johnson.

“Our staff is teaching the girls to understand the game at a higher level. We’re all pushing ourselves to become the best we can be while trying to enjoy the process”.

The Pumas are 15-0 starting the 2019 season. Their “official CIF Record” on the year is 5-0.
