No Team is Safe in the Tough Southwestern League
Murrieta Mesa pulled off a 5 set victory over rival Murrieta Valley Monday night in the very tough and competitive Southwestern league. Three of the league’s teams, Vista Murrieta, Temecula Valley and Great Oak are ranked in the top 20 teams in Division 1 and 2 in the CIF Southern Section. The 3 other teams in the league are talented and dangerous and cannot be ignored.
Monday night saw the Rams beat the Nighthawks in another fierce game. Mesa dropped the first set 16-25 only to come back to win the next two 25-21 and 25-18. MV won the fourth set 23-25 to set up the tiebreaker which the Rams took 15-11.
Kali Uhl led Murrieta Mesa with 29 kills in the match. The senior also had 16 digs. Senior Kiara Schmidt was all over the court and ended the game with 47 digs for the Rams. Another senior, Sophia Maulupe also came up with 16 digs.
Murrieta Valley stats will be posted as they become available.
Play resumes in the Southwestern league on Wednesday as Murrieta Valley takes on Vista Murrieta, Great Oak heads to Chaparral and Temecula Valley comes into Murrieta Mesa.
