HS Volleyball: Murrieta Valley Advances to the Championship Game of the CIF SS Division 4 Playoffs

The Nighthawks Play San Gabriel Academy Today in the Finals

Murrieta Valley advances to play for the 2018 CIF Southern Section Division 4 Boy’s Volleyball Championship on Saturday. The Nighthawks have shined in the playoffs and are on the verge of the first CIF SS Championship in school history.

They set the CIF Playoffs as a goal early in season, and have worked extremely hard to get here” sid Murrieta Valley Coach Jason Cantu. “The have been focused and have worked Wonderfully as a unit. The Boys are ready for the CIF Finals, and I know that they will leave everything on the court.”

Murrieta Valley began the tournament with a 3-0 opening round victory over Loma Linda Academy on May 8th . The Nighthawks then beat St. Anthony’s 3-1in round 2 and knocked off San Marino in the quarterfinals 3-1.

In their semifinal match on Wednesday, the Nighthawks overpowered their opponents and won 3-0. Whittier Christian put up a good fight in the first set, losing 28-26. The Heralds fell 25-17 and 25-18 in the subsequent sets, setting up the Championship game with San Gabriel Academy

The Eagles are tough. They have a overall record of 27-2 and were the Westside league Champions. They have only lost 2 sets in the CIF Southern Section Championship Playoffs.
