HS Volleyball: Paloma Valley Defeats Diamond Ranch in Round 2 of the CIF Southern Section Championship Playoffs


The Wildcats Advance to Face Notre Dame Saturday in the Quarterfinals

Paloma Valley defeated Diamond Ranch in Round 2 of the CIF Southern Section Division 6 Championship Playoffs Thursday. The Wildcats battled the Panthers to a tough 4 seat victory 23-25,25-22,29-27 and 25-11.

Sophomore Gabby Hollins led the Wildcats with 17 kills. Junior Melanie Maclin added another 10. Channa Hart had 3 big blocks for Paloma Valley.

Defensively, Madison Martinez came up with 17 digs and Faith Galvan had 13 more. Mckenzie Coleman had 23 assists and freshman Olivia Karwin had 21 for Paloma Valley. volleyball

We played a physical game. They blocked well and had some big hitters” said Paloma Valley Coach Stephen Kaas. “Their gym was difficult to play in with low lighting and we struggled with our serve in the first set”.

Our defense and passing really made the difference in this match. Our offense was well balance and our blocking got better as the match went on” added Kass. “We will need this same type of match on Saturday if we hope to be successful”.

The Wildcats will face Notre Dame Saturday in the CIF Southern Section Division 6 Championship Playoffs Quarterfinals.
