The Golden Bears Even the Score with the Wolfpack after last Wednesday’s Loss
Defending Southwestern league Champion Temecula Valley extracted sweet revenge from Great Oak Monday night. The Golden Bears beat the Wolfpack in 4 sets 25-21, 18-25,28-26 and 25-22. Temecula had lost their first outing against Great Oak last Wednesday in 4 sets. It was just another night in the very tough and competitive Southwestern league.
“It was a tough match like the first game” said Great Oak Head Coach Mark Motluck. “We had opportunities to finish both the third and fourth games off, and just didn’t. Temecula Valley played the bigger points better, found some momentum and was able to capitalize on it. They defended the outside better this match”.
The Golden Bears took the first set 25-21. The Wolfpack tied it all up, winning set two, 18-25. After a tough third set where Temecula slipped past Great Oak 28-16, the Golden Bears sealed the victory with a 25-22 effort in the fourth.
Junior Hailey Hinkel led the Golden Bear attack with 16 kills. She also had 9 digs and 5 aces in the game. Senior Carly Shreenan added 13 kills and 9 digs. Freshman Emma Rhodes and senior Makenzie Nutting had 6 kills apiece. Nutting also had 3 blocks.
Senior Jasmine West led the Golden Bears with 16 digs. Senior setter Jordyn Amoy had 44 assists, 10 digs and 3 blocks for Temecula.
