HS Volleyball: Temecula Valley Sweeps Chaparral to Clinch the Southwestern League Championship

Vista Murrieta Beats Great Oak in Four to Finish 8-2 to Finish Second

Temecula Valley swept Chaparral 25-12, 25-23, 25-15 in the final game of the 2017 regular season to win the Southwestern league Championship.

Vista Murrieta was a game behind the defending Champions and finished in second place. The Golden Bears will now get ready for the CIF Southern Section Playoffs.

The Pumas had no chance against the inspired play of the Golden Bears. Madison Endsley led the Temecula attack with 19 kills. Whats more remarkable, the senior served up 7 aces in the match.

Peyton Mcbride had 10 kills and 12 digs for the Golden Bears. Carly Shreenan added 7 kills and had 4 aces for Temecula. Mackenzie Krauss-Stewart had 3 big blocks and super steady setter Jordyn Amoy had 40 assists.

It was a sloppy match but the girls handled Chaparrals’ pressure. They pulled off the 3-0 sweep to win the league tittle” said Temecula Valley Coach Rafu Rodriguez. “Looking forward to the CIF Playoffs, we will need to sharpen up our game as we go forward”.

Chaparral was powered by senior Kaili Downs who had 8 kills. Julia Haynie, Kenzie Guimont and Delaney Sluis each had 2 blocks against the Golden Bears. Vianna Allen led the Pumas with 9 digs.

In other Southwestern League action, Vista Murrieta was a 3-1 winner over Great Oak. Murrieta Valley swept Murrieta Mesa 3-0.
