HS Water Polo: Murrieta Valley Powers Past Temecula Valley 16-3


The Defending Southwestern League Champions are Expected to Repeat Again

Murrieta Valley cruised to a 16-3 victory over Southwestern league rival Temecula Valley Wednesday night. The Nighthawks are the 3-0 in league play so far this season. The game was played at Murrieta Valley due to a malfunctioning heat exchanger in the Temecula Valley pool.

Murrieta Valley was led by sophomore Maryn Dempsey‘s 5 goals. Dempsey scored 4 goals and senior Taylor Hensley put 3 in the net in the first period to give the Nighthawks a 7-1 lead.

Murrieta Valley would score 2 in the second period, 4 in the third and 3 in the final period to win 16-3.

Hensley ended up scoring 4 goals. Freshman Sophia Sollie and Becca Hale scored 2 goals each against the Golden Bears. Avery Wood, Jenna Sawyer and Isabelle Ritter each scored a goal.

Temecula’s Sierra Skinner, LeAnna Bridges and Lauren Prebble scored a goal apiece against Murrieta Valley.

Freshman Tyanna Schneider was in goal for the Nighthawks and played an outstanding game.
