HS Wrestling: Great Oak Defeats Murrieta Valley 47-25 in Thursday Night’s SWL Dual Meet

The Wolfpack Celebrates Senior Night their Dual Victory Over the Nighthawks

Great Oak out-wrestled Murrieta Valley in last Thursday night’s Southwestern League Dual Meet. The Wolfpack won nine of the weight class match-ups, while losing only 4, including one by forfeit.

The Nighthawks under Coach Dan Kingman are still rebuilding a program that was lost for several seasons. Wolfpack Coach Joe Conroy has a lot of respect and admiration for the way coach Kingman has rebuilt the Nighthawks wrestling program,  ”Murrieta Valley is becoming a great program and they have rebuilt a line-up that is really solid all the way through” said Conroy.

It was great to get all of our seniors in the line-up for Senior Night added Conroy. “We have some really tough wrestlers who are just stuck behind other great wrestlers. Seniors Dylan Holt(106), Kevin Karpenski (138), David Ogden (160), Mark Diaz (170) and Jeremy Shepherd (195) all came away with victories. Also, Seniors Jonathan Pena (145) and Antonio Infante (152) battled in two of the most exciting matches of the evening but came up a little short.

The Wolfpack was celbrating Senior Night at the Dual agaist the Nighthawks. “We tried to make it a memorable event because this was the last time they will get to wrestle in front of their home crowd” said Conroy. “This was the culmination of 4 years of hard work so it was nice for them to go out with a great event”.
