The Golden Bears Dominate as Santiago Finishes a Distant Second
The defending Southwestern league Champion Temecula Valley put on an Wrestling exhibition over the weekend. The Varsity team crushed their opponents as they steam rolled to the Riverside County Championship over a field of 38 of the top teams from around the county.
The Golden Bears scored 293.5 points outdistancing second place Santiago who managed 258.5 points. Centennial was third (248.5), Roosevelt (228.5) fourth and Hillcrest (224) came in fifth place.
Temecula Valley’s Tyler Jorgeson (170) and Ryan Cosio (182) both won Gold medals at the tournament. Noah Graciano (152) and Dillon Johnson (132) both took silver. Ethan Pratt (113) placed third.
Michael Munoz (120) and Antonio Khanthasa (160) placed 5th in their weight classes. Ethan Gessel (106), Sam Atherton (126) and Mike Scarponi (145) took sixth place finishes. Jake Fortin (195) rounded out the Golden Bears scoring with a seventh place effort.
Meanwhile, the Temecula Valley junior varsity finished in 6th place in the Willemstein Memorial Tournament at Ontario High School.
