On Thursday September 20, 2018, about 8:10 PM, deputies of the Jurupa Valley Patrol Station and members of the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force Opens in New Window, Region-7, investigated a shooting that occurred in the 5000 block of Troth St. in Jurupa Valley. Three individuals were shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
All three victims were treated at an area hospital and later released. At the time of the initial investigation, it was believed the shooting was gang related, however no suspects were identified.
After a lengthy investigation, a 17-year-old juvenile of Jurupa Valley was identified as being one of the shooters. On December 04, 2018, a search warrant was authored for his residence and a firearm was recovered. The juvenile was arrested for being an active gang member in possession of a loaded firearm.
On December 28, 2018, a search warrant was served at a residence located in the 10500 block of Jurupa Rd. in Jurupa Valley. During the service of the search warrant, several loaded firearms, to include an illegal AK-47 assault rifle, were seized.
Task Force Officers arrested 45-year-old Jurupa Valley resident, Daniel Orozco, for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Orozco was booked into custody at the Robert Presley Detention Center for the following charges:
*Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
*Convicted Felon in Possession of Ammunition.
*Possession of an Illegal Assault Rifle.
*Possession of a High Capacity Magazine.
The Region 7 Gang Task Force is one of eight teams composing the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force, which is a collaborative effort of 25 law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs throughout Riverside County. The Region 7 Gang Task Force is composed of members from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, and Riverside County Probation.
